Napoli Teatro Festival Italia About to Start

Not long now till the start of the seventh edition of the Napoli Teatro Festival Italia that will take place from 6 to 22 June; the city gets ready to welcome the major national and international acting companies. Few days ago, directors Marco Sciaccaluga and Lluis Pasqual reached Naples, where they will arrange their shows (Il Sindaco del Rione Sanità and Finale di Partita) in the well proven system of the performing factories. The exhibition, organized by Fondazione Campania dei Festival, is again directed by Luca De Fusco, for the fourth year in a row. Thirty shows (the majority is a world or Italian premiere) with a special attention on Cechov and childhood- inspired texts. But it will also feature a special tribute to Eduardo De Filippo, thirty years after his death, many young Neapolitan directors, new dramaturgy and literature. 

This edition of Napoli Teatro Festival Italia will also open the National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa with a dance show, Reshimo by Vertigo Dance Company; the company is coming back to Naples once more for the third year in a row after the success obtained in 2012 and 2013 that made it famous in Italy and Europe. Besides Reshimo (world prèmiere), the Israeli company (that after Naples will fly for the first time to New York and China) will present Mana, one of their historic choreography. Major dance shows include Addio alla fine by Emio Greco, currently one of the most relevant choreographers, recently appointed Director of the Ballet National de Marseille, the historic company of Roland Petit. This edition once more, such as in 2013, will be the location for international performing labs. 3 shows will be arranged from auditions held in Naples and artists in residence programmes: Finale di partita by Samuel Beckett, directed by Lluis Pasqual, with Lello Arena in the lead role, Sindaco del rione Sanità by Eduardo De Filippo that will be played by Genoa actor Eros Pagni, and directed by Marco Sciaccaluga, and the Mediterranean Giardino dei ciliegi by Cechov, arranged by Luca De Fusco.
