A Fair for promoting Campania extra-virgin oil companies

A Fair for promoting Campania extra-virgin oil companies

“The Regional Ministry for Agriculture and Productive Activities are at work for the promotion of extra-virgin olive oil”.

In this way President Caldoro’s councillors for Agriculture, Daniela Nugnes, and for Productive Activities, Fulvio Martusciello, comment the approval by the Regional Executive Board of the manifestation of interest for the participation in the partnership for the realisation of Olivitaly, the international fair of the olive industry that will see Naples as the benchmark for the entrepreneurs of the sector.

“It is a manifestation – Nugnes adds – that intends to valorise the Italian and Campania oils of excellence, strengthening their presence in national and international markets and, at the same time, inciting the productive system to a quality improvement”.

“Olivitaly – Martusciello underlines in turn – represents the first national fair in the oil sector, a strategic industry that we want to make the protagonist of an action for real promotion and valorisation of our SMEs”.

“The idea – they explain – arises from the necessity of valorising a new exhibition concept for extra-virgin olive oil, at a national and international level. As a matter of fact, the olive tree represents a characterising element in Campania as for the landscape and the economy of vast areas of the region. Our region, with almost 74 thousand hectares of olive trees cultivation, is in the sixth place in Italy in land extension destined to this cultivation. Also, it can count on five PDO productions, which put it in a joint-second place with Puglia for number of branded extra-virgin oils”.

With the resolution a steering committee has been established, composed by the councillors responsible for Agriculture and Economic Development, by the managers competent in the fields of the two regional administrations, by Unaprol, Unioncamere, Mostra d'Oltremare and Evolio, the Italian olive-growing consortium.

“The following step will be the acquisition of the financial resources that are necessary for the realisation of the manifestation; we hope it could become a benchmark in the national and international olive-growing sector”, Nugnes and Martusciello conclude.
