Responsibilities: Implementation of national and regional rules concerning livestock heritage and food safety; supervising control activity related to fresh meat, fishery, dairy products, eggs, and honey by local health unit veterinary departments. Coordination of drug surveillance and testing activities; planning, coordination and checks on veterinary prevention activities of Local Health Units. Coordination and verification of implementation of Control Plans concerning hygiene in livestock breeding and production. Management of the alert system for food for human consumption and for animal feed. Coordination of healthcare recovery plan and prevention and control of infectious and diffusion diseases; management of special plans for buffalo brucellosis, swine vesicular disease and bluetongue. Promotion of actions to protect welfare of pet and income animals and for the prevention of stray animals; regulation and monitoring of the proper supply of concerned Basic Levels of Care (LEA).
